Cold Plunging: A Chill New Experience
Recently, I stepped into the chilly world of cold plunging. You've probably heard about this growing trend from wellness circles, maybe even from the likes of the eccentric "iceman" Wim Hof. My hubby, Sean, has been a long-time fan of cold therapy for the mood and energy boost, but when the chance came to try it with alongside other health-minded women, I had decided to be brave and FINALLY give it a try! I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I was resistant for years.
I was at a retreat in San Diego, standing in front of a cold tub, ready for my first plunge. I was both nervous and excited, accidentally making a grand entrance by nearly face planting as I slipped into the tub. Here is a short video of that near face plant (I have no problem laughing at myself!). As for the rest, here's the thing – it wasn't the dramatic moment I expected.
Yes, the first few seconds were a shock. I mean, it is cold. But as I focused on my breathing, something cool happened (pun intended). I started to feel... good, really good. It was this weird mix of calm & letting go of control. Sure, by the end of those 2 minutes, I was ready to hop out, but I felt proud and surprisingly refreshed. I got in the sauna and even hopped back in for another 30 seconds!
This whole cold plunge thing? It's not just about enduring the cold; it's about discovering a new layer of strength and vitality. And though it was a bit out of my comfort zone, it's a reminder that sometimes, the best experiences come from trying something new.
So, stay tuned. Next time, I'll share more about the benefits of cold therapy and how you can incorporate it into your routine for that extra pep in your step.
Till then, keep shining, keep learning, and remember, the journey to glowing skin and vibrant health is as much about the adventures along the way as it is about the products we use.
